Jake huffed in offense. Which only made Sean laugh harder. But while Sean was laughing, Jake was studying him just as closely. He leaned in, nearly pressing against him. Sean’s face hadn’t changed much.

Summary
This is part 2 to my other fic “You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”
For a moment neither of them moved. Then Jake’s arms slowly lifted. Carefully. Like he was afraid the hug might break if he moved too fast. He wrapped them around Sean. And held on.
Not tight. Just… steady. Sean felt Jake’s hands gripping the back of his shirt like they needed something solid to anchor to. He didn’t let go.
After a long moment Sean spoke again, voice quieter than before.“You’re not doing that alone anymore.”
Jake didn’t answer right away. Sean felt his grip tighten slightly.“…you promise?” Jake asked.
Sean pulled back just enough to look him in the eye.“I literally died once,” he said. “You think I’m doing that again just to ditch you?”
Jake snorted despite himself.“Good.”

“Hey,” Jake said again, firmer this time, but still soft. “It’s me.”
Sean’s breath stuttered.“You’re here,” Jake continued. “With me. Not her.”
That made Sean flinch.
Jake felt it- and tightened his hold just slightly, not enough to trap him, just enough to remind him he wasn’t drifting.
“She’s not here,” Jake repeated, slower. “She’s not watching. You’re okay.”Sean shook his head weakly, like he didn’t fully believe it.
Jake adjusted again, pressing his forehead lightly against Sean’s temple.
“Then stay with me anyway,” he whispered. “Even if it feels wrong. Just… stay.”
