Summary
“You know, I didn’t have you go back to the hospital ‘cause I figured the whole being-stuck-in-a-room-with-a-scalpel-wielding-robot thing was still a little fresh, but now I see that would’ve been better than having to watch—”
“It’s fine.”
Eddie huffs and slides Buck’s pants past his feet. His belt clanks against the floor.
“It’s not fine, Buck.”

Summary
“Everyone’s a little fluid, Eddie,” Zane says, and gone is that warm smile, those kind brown eyes. He looks hungry. He looks mad. He scoffs. “I mean, come on.”
Eddie shakes his head. “Sorry, I, uh— I think I should go.”
In his periphery, Jade’s stockinged foot tamps. “So soon?”
Eddie looks at her, then at Zane. She looks disappointed, but Zane—
Is holding a switchblade.

Summary
"Why did you bid on yourself?" Buck says slowly, his mouth feeling like it belongs to someone else. His heart is playing traitorous tricks in his chest.
Eddie gets up on his elbow, leaning slightly over Buck with his huge earnest eyes. A lock of dank black hair falls over his forehead.
"There's a reason I haven't looked at a woman in a year, Buck."
or, Buck and Eddie are relieved the other didn't get a date at the auction.

Summary
“I don’t know what to do,” Buck says, hushed, like that mountain lion, who is no doubt keeping tabs on them from the shadows, can hear them from in here. “Flares aren’t a good idea, and I don’t— I never got around to getting a radio or—or a satellite phone—”
“Mm, Buck.”
“This is all my fault,” he says again. “All because I don’t like to fly.”
“Buck. Stop. Shut up.”
Buck huffs and runs his hands through his hair, tugging the curls into disrepair. “If it was me, you’d be the same way. Don’t act like you wouldn’t be.”
Well, that gets them both to shut up.
or, Buck and Eddie's trip home from Nashville doesn't go as planned.
