"What if Garp was the original feral child? Raised by Dawn’s ancient forest and deep blue sea? By pack of wolves and murder of crows? Or by something wilder than the eastern wind and older than the island itself?"

The idea is that Garp was raised by a Thunderbird, which changed everything. It's just an excuse to give the ASL trio a big, happy family.
