Ardeth believes the uncertainty of not knowing Rick’s fate is the worst pain he will ever experience, but a new, fresh agony awaits.
It arrives the day he sees Rick’s face again, alive and healthy, grinning back at him. When their eyes meet, he can hear Rick’s sly rebuttal to Ardeth’s awe.
