Notes:

lemon oak was my accidentally created fankid - that is, in tomodachi life, i made the mistake of apparently telling goh if he wanted to have a kid with gary then sure. why the hell not. and then two days later suddenly they had a child. who a friend of mine said “looks like she just ate a lemon,” and thus we named her lemon oak - that i got a little too attached to and created real backstory for.

in line with tomodachi life canon, lemon is gary and goh’s biological child. so yes. be warned. there be mpreg. i don’t think i’ll get too crazy actually exploring gender headcanons so i may not tag relevant fics as such, but it’s a trans mpreg situation in my head! here’s the timeline i have crafted for this AU to make it make any sense in my brain:

-gary and goh get together in their early twenties while they are both pursuing careers as pokemon professors. pokemon higher education makes no sense to me, so i think it is reasonable that they could be established researchers by age 25. (they both aren’t really “settled” anywhere but they attend the same graduate school in unova)
-which is great because guess who’s getting pregnant at age 24. that’s right. it’s gary oak
-thus their beautiful daughter lemon is born on april 20 following gary’s and goh’s 25th birthdays in october and december respectively. that’s not a meme, she really was born that day. beautiful coincidence, though
-they were not married before the pregnancy. they are together, just not married or even really thinking about marriage - they both have always put their careers first. but they both worry about the optics enough that they elope early into it. which is also bad optics but they’re kind of stupid like this. after they get married they move to vermilion city since they’re like, already graduated and all that, so that goh can start working with professor cerise again to pay the bills and such and they can both be closer to their families
-gary is stir crazy and goes back to work as soon as he can after lemon is born, but goh takes a multi-year sabbatical while they relocate to viridian city where gary has been given a grant to open up a new pokemon research lab in collaboration with professor junpier's lab in unova. when goh comes back to work he works at that lab with gary. unclear who works here with them as of now, but again, i will update with that information when i have it figured out
-lemon obviously becomes a trainer and goes on her own journey when she turns 10. she decides to journey in the unova region, with her first pokemon being a joltik she befriended there.

anyway, that’s what i have at this moment, but the fics themselves will have all kinds of random additional details of course! it’s pure self-indulgence but i hope others can enjoy it too <3
