Summary

-ThriceYears after escaping Hawkins, El is still trying to figure out how normal life works. Billy is living a perfectly miserable one, until she shows up at his doorstep and suddenly he’s forced to share his apartment with her. What could possibly go wrong? Between sarcastic banter, unresolved trauma, crisis aplenty, and an alarming number of broken household items, the two stumble into feelings neither of them planned on having. Unfortunately for Billy, El is very patient. And unfortunately for El, Billy is very stubborn.

Post-canon slow burn set between 1990-1991 that sticks mostly to canon history with only a few minor changes. El lives. Billy also lived which slightly changed some of the outward ripple effects.
Everybody keeps recoiling at this ship so I’ve challenged myself to redeem him and make this relationship develop in a way that works naturally without being weird. You'll see. Tons of cute moments. Tons of funny moments. Give it a shot.

Summary
One year in, and somehow the girl who escaped a government lab and the guy who solves problems with his fists are still trying to make “healthy relationship” a real thing. It’s messy, loud, and occasionally held together by stubbornness, sarcasm, and a dog Billy swears he didn’t want. When a wedding invitation drags them into a week of secrets, exes, and unresolved family baggage, the cracks they’ve been ignoring start to show. Now Billy has to prove he’s more than his worst instincts and El has to decide if loving him is strength…or the one risk she can’t afford to take.

A direct sequel to my other story "Seven Suns, Seven Wars, Seven Tongues" that is set a year after the events of that story, so around summer/fall of 1992. Continuing the development of Billy and El's relationship and his transformation. Billy's bad habits, the reintroduction of Max, and an old flame threaten to upend all the work he's done so far. Will changed Billy prevail? Stay tuned and find out!
