Leon slumped back against Chris again, his body reaching a point of exhaustion where keeping his head upright anymore was a struggle.
With a cracked voice he whispered, "I thought I was going to die, Chris. I thought I was going to die there and never see you again. And that scared me."

He reached out hesitantly, two fingers pressed gently to the outside of Leon's neck and while the other hand landed flat on his chest. The relief was instantaneous, he felt the steady thrum of Leon's heartbeat beneath his touch and he was finally able to release the breath that he had been holding.
Leon was alive, he was home, he was safe.
