Summary
“How are you supposed to love part of yourself that just makes you worse than everybody else?” Caine stops, going completely still in spite of the code rapidly firing information off at him. He turns to the screen displaying the adventure and sees Gangle curled up against a wall, her hands around her knees.
“Because… it exists.” Caine sighs, softly, breathlessly. It feels like he’s taken a cannonball to the chest. He whips around to face the screen properly, fingers curling around it as he brings it up to his face to watch with wide, wondering eyes. “It's a part of you that's real, and the only you that you should care about is the real you. You have to choose to love yourself. Even if it doesn't make sense. It's not natural, it's intentional.”

Summary
Ordinarily, he’d go into sleep mode, but his new storage had him feeling energized in a way he hadn’t known since he was created.
He goes about tearing open the seed packets and digging into the soil. He shucks off his coat, flings it onto his desk before he rolls up his sleeves. He leaves his gloves on, so he can see the dirt coating them. He marvels at the texture of it, hearing about the texture was one thing, trying to recreate it was another, feeling it himself was a whole other ballpark.
Somehow he winds up with dirt on his shirt anyway, and his pants. And his teeth. But he’s ecstatic, he’s got a space all for him! Full of his art and love and–!
He looks around, he’d been looking at the code to see what he was doing while he was planting. It is rather dark, though, and he doesn’t care much for the dark. He checks the time, it’s still early enough to indulge a little more, so he does.

Dates and names and functions and subroutines and all things in between slip away from him like sand. A burning fog rolls over his mind, his eyes unfocusing, limbs going limp. He doesn’t have the capacity to process the pain flaring in his head, nor to panic about the processing power he’s rapidly losing. He spares half a thought to shutting down anything adding strain to his system before the fog wins and his mind is reduced to a few, precious moments.
