Summary
Wendy hates her feelings more than what is probably reasonable or healthy. It is a consistent cause of pain and suffering that she is unable to be freed from.
The worst part is, they require so much effort to control. If she doesn’t keep herself contained, she fears it will end up worse for her.
Keeping herself stable is hard enough on a normal day.
So when Webber casually confesses his love to her, she doesn’t take it very well.

Summary
At first, Webber tried to pretend he felt nothing new. It worked, for a while, but he wasn’t happy. He was scared to ask for more, but the fear of pushing Wendy away outweighed his wants less and less every time he thought about it. Eventually, it got to a point where he knew he couldn’t pretend anymore. He needed to tell Wendy everything.
But it had to be done right.
Or: 4 times Webber thought his feelings to Wendy weren’t clear, and 1 time he didn’t.

“We don’t think we’ll ever stop loving you,” he whispered. “And… we think you probably feel the same.”}
A talk about immortality gives a young couple new perspectives, a deeper understanding of each other, and a newfound appreciation for their situation.

On the surface, Webber seems like a simple, happy young boy who doesn’t let any problems take away from his love of life.
And that isn’t wrong! Webber loves learning about the world, he loves his spider friends, his fellow survivors, his girlfriend, even the spider who he shares a subconscious with, mostly, and he’s happy a lot more than he isn’t!
When he’s having fun, he can forget that he’s a monstrous hybrid! He doesn’t need to feel pain over it!
He’s happy…
And yet, he has and always will have a problem that can never be solved, that affects his life in small and large ways, impossible to fully ignore.
How could one truly stay happy this way?
