Summary
Five months of texts and phone calls were the only things keeping Sherry Birkin grounded. So when Jake Muller finally shows up at her door, unannounced and looking for a place to stay, she doesn't question the miracle. She just lets him in.
At first, it’s everything she ever wanted. Jake is charming, attentive, and domestic in ways he never was in Lanshiang. But as the days bleed into weeks, the rhythm of their new life starts to feel almost TOO perfect. Between the quiet mornings and the heavy tension in the hallways, Sherry begins to notice small, inexplicable changes in the man she thought she knew.
In the DSO, you’re taught to trust your instincts. But when your heart finally has what it wants, how hard will you fight to ignore the warning signs?

Summary
After the horror of the clone is locked behind high-security glass, Sherry Birkin is left to scrub the contamination out of her life— starting with the apartment, the furniture, and the stolen memory of her first time.
Miles away on a bloody mercenary contract, Jake Muller is dealing with his own rage at not being able to tear the imposter apart.
Separated by oceans, their only lifeline is a flickering screen. What starts as tentative, awkward midnight texts slowly evolves into breathless late-night phone calls, intense longing, and a digital intimacy that rewrites Sherry's trauma from the inside out.

Summary
Distance was easy.
Distance was a bridge made of words, filtered through thousands of miles of encrypted satellite static at three o'clock in the morning.
On the phone, Sherry could pretend she wasn't broken. On the phone, Jake could pretend he was a man who belonged in her clean, safe world.
But reality is loud, massive, and entirely uncompromising.
Returning to Washington D.C., Jake finds Sherry living in an almost barren concrete bunker— a physical manifestation of the trauma left behind by a biometric counterfeit. Paralysed by the weight of what they've survived, they find themselves trapped behind a stuttering grid of awkwardness and fear. It takes a ruined espresso machine, a chaotic showroom floor, and the scent of fresh woodsmoke to fracture the ice. Step by step, Jake fulfills the promises he made over those midnight phone lines, proving that while his hands were built for violence, they can also build a sanctuary.
