Everyone wants to know what's wrong with Ed Thompson, and there's no shortage of things to pick--he's too scrawny, too loud, too smart in the wrong ways, too obsessed with horror and not enough with girls. A major freak among freaks.
Ed wants to know things too, like why Charley's new neighbor makes his heart pound and how long he's going to be stuck in a backwater like Rancho Corvalis. It's unfortunate for him that the cost of getting answers is higher than death.
