Summary
He sucked a breath in. “It was the case,” he whispered quietly. “Child abduction.”
Lucy’s eyes softened in understanding.
“I just…couldn’t get Zoe out of my head. And it was just…too much. I couldn’t–I couldn’t…” he trailed off, his voice cracking. “Does it get easier?”
She took a breath. “I’m still trying to work that out.” She smiled sadly. “It doesn’t get…easier. Less heavy, maybe. If that makes any sense.”
He nodded silently. She just watched him as he wiped away a tear that had trickled down his face, then turned and pulled the shop onto the road again.

Summary
After another ten minutes, Lucy finally spoke, “I should’ve known.”
Grey and Luna both looked at her, their faces softening. Luna spoke first. “You couldn’t have.”
“But I should’ve. I’m his wife. I know him better than anyone else. How…how did I miss this?”
Grey looked at her, his eyes full of pity. She refused to meet his gaze. “Sometimes, when people are hurting, they get really good at hiding things, Lucy. You know that better than anyone.”
