Harry and Louis are already sleeping beside each other whenever they can. They are already touching in the dark, already joking too loud in public, already scaring the boys, already making something real look stupid enough to survive.
Then Stockholm gives them quiet.
A sunflower café. Crepes and cream. Louis taking Harry’s hand after checking no one is looking. A walk by the water. A cheap speaker. Radiohead. Harry ready, steady, go. Louis terrified they’re jumping the gun.
This is not where it starts.
This is where Harry lets Louis be his first, and Louis learns the dangerous thing is not wanting him. It’s wanting him in daylight. It’s wanting him after.Series

One Direction are not quite fully famous yet, but they are close enough to feel the walls moving in. The X-factor tour is over. The single is still coming. Everyone has opinions, everyone has jokes, and everyone keeps saying Harry and Louis’ names in the same sentence like it is funny and not dangerous.They have slept in hotel rooms, tour buses, borrowed beds, and each other’s space for months. Now there are keys. Stairs. Boxes. A kitchen. A bedroom or two.
Their first flat.
Their first home.

November 22nd, 2011: Columbia Records announced One Direction’s American deal.
Louis went out after midnight in the maroon shirt Harry told him not to wear.
Danny tweeted through the club, cab, and aftermath.
At 12:23pm, Harry tweeted that Louis had got in Harry’s bed with tea.
Louis tweeted him from beside him.
Harry tweeted, “that’s my knee....”
Two days later, Ed Sheeran wrote “Friends.”November 2011.
One Direction are on the edge of America. Louis is nineteen and drunk on attention. Harry is seventeen, stuck in their flat, too young for the clubs Louis disappears into, and too in love to pretend it doesn’t hurt.
Not a breakup.
Almost worse.
A maroon shirt. A stranger’s mouth. Zayn in the cold. Danny’s bathroom floor. A bath Harry runs furious. Tea made properly. Rules made by two boys who don’t know how to keep private love from feeling like a lie.
Then Ed calls.
Because friends do not wait in another boy’s bed.
Friends do not make rules about girls, boys, clubs, cameras, and lies.
