Ryland, him, his yapping had stopped and was making some squeaky sound out of surprise as his words just registered.
For a second, their gaze crossed, one offered him a tender and warm smile, like his laughter, it was frank and real. He didn’t realize that his hand was still resting on his thigh when he took out his phone from a jacket pocket. A warm pout in his lower stomach at the sight of it, he turned vividly his gaze back on the road. The sight of it had burnt his retina. His cheeks and ears were burning him. He was sure that it wasn’t the effect of alcohol, as he never drank.
