If you asked a Gryffindor for a description of Regulus, they probably would’ve said, “Oh, the baby Black.”
If you asked a Slytherin for a description of Regulus, they probably would’ve said, “He’s intimidatingly smart. And the heir to the House of Black.”
If you asked any of Regulus’s friends, like Barty, Evan, or Dorcas, they would’ve said, “He always remembers absolutely everything, and makes sure it comes back to bite you.”
Barty may have added, “He thinks he’s smarter than everyone else, but ain’t no way he’s smarter than me.”
If you asked any seventh-year Gryffindor, specifically one Lily Evans, she would’ve said, “He’s… a little scary but he’s truly a good person.”
And finally, if you asked James Potter, James would’ve said, “Oh, Regulus? That’s my boyfriend.”
OR: Regulus doesn't know why James picked him over Lily when Lily was obviously so much prettier, better, smarter than him. So at a Gryffindor party James invited him to one evening, Regulus decides to go ask Lily what he's doing wrong. At 4am. He's way too sober for this.

“I can’t believe you had the audacity to drag me to a bar, of all places,” grumbled Regulus. “Have I not made it abundantly clear I hate parties, people, and the world in general?”
“Oh, you have, but I think you could use some loosening up,” grinned Barty.
“Plus, hot guys! Is that not what you get at a bar? Find someone and release some of that pent-up sexual tension you keep pretending you don’t have.” Evan added.
“Guys…” Regulus complained. “I don’t want to do this. Let’s go home.”
“Suck it up, we’re going in!” chirped Barty.
OR: Evan and Barty have made it their sole mission in life to get Regulus a boyfriend. Regulus is resisting, but then he meets… James Potter at the bar he got dragged to. Hm… maybe a boyfriend wouldn’t be so bad.
