“I’m sorry.” He shifts uncomfortably, staring at his lap as he blinks hard, praying no tears will fall. Any second now Misha is going to ask him to leave, tell him he’s too much and yet still not enough.
A warm hand settles on Ilia’s cheek. “I’m fine,” Misha repeats softly. “I’m ready if you are?” He poses it like a question, as if the choice is Ilia’s to make. Ilia doesn’t know how he feels about that. All he knows is his chest still aches and he’s scared he’s going to cry again if he looks at Misha any longer.
