Summary
Avery’s slime extends and molds to form thick locs, barely short enough to keep out of his eyes. One of them dangles from his temple, almost touching the corner of Avery’s eye. Derek can’t stop himself from reaching out and brushing it from Avery’s face. Derek can’t stop himself from resting his hand on Avery’s face, his thumb swiping over Avery’s faux-cheekbone. He can’t stop himself from keeping his hand there when Avery’s eyes flutter open, locking with Derek’s.
“Derek..?” His voice is soft, and warm, and sleepy.
“Avery.” He mumbles, gently swiping his thumb over his cheekbone again.

Or, Avery and Derek finally slow down after trying their damndest to run from their problems. As it turns out, opening up to someone helps lighten the load.
