Summary
Roy never hesitated on water rescues.
He dove in faster while Johnny was still making peace with the idea of getting wet. He swam farther, smoother, with less splashing and less visible effort than anyone Johnny had ever worked with. He stayed under longer than he should have, came up exactly where he needed to be, and somehow always seemed to know where the current would take him.
Johnny wasn’t sure where the stamina came from. Or the breath control. Or the fact that Roy could come out of the ocean soaked to the skin, hair plastered to his forehead, and look more relaxed than he did sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee.
But Roy was a natural.
More graceful in the water than he was on land.

This is a tiny little prequel, of sorts, for Harbor. It takes place maybe 6 months to a year before the events of Harbor.
The forecast calls for some rough weather, and Johnny doesn't like the idea of Roy staying in his houseboat.

Summary
Roy liked that Johnny didn't push. Johnny was very careful not to act possessive or claiming, like the men in the stories. He never treated Roy's body like something already promised to him just because Roy had kissed him and trusted him with a secret. Roy liked the care and the patience. He did.
But there was patience, and then there was Johnny, apparently needing a hand-delivered invitation to Roy's bedroom in writing, witnessed by three seals and notarized by Captain Stanley.
Roy was going to lose his mind.
