Summary
The once independent kingdom of Yukigaoka finds itself under the rule of the powerful Karasuno Empire. As a symbol of unity and consolidation, the marriage alliance between the two kingdom’s princes is forged. Hinata Shouyou, heir and Crown Prince of Yukigaoka, embraces the union as a political necessity, his sense of honor and duty compelling him to fulfill his obligations and find a way to protect his kingdom's best interests. And he supposes his now-husband, Kageyama Tobio, Royal Commander and younger brother of the Queen of Karasuno, shares the same burden that comes with the weight of their crowns.
As the two princes come together in marriage, their initial interactions are marked by tension and apprehension. Their disparate personalities only create a turbulent dynamic, wrought with miscommunications and misunderstandings. However, as they are forced by their circumstances to spend time together, a tentative friendship begins to blossom… and maybe even more.

Summary
Kageyama is the Prince and the Royal Commander; he was merely abiding by his duty. He cannot simply abandon his troops because his husband turned twenty-one on the longest day of the year.
But understanding does not stop the hollow feeling in his chest, does not prevent his fingers from tracing the empty space beside him in bed at night, searching for warmth that had been absent for nearly two months—until last night, when Kageyama had finally come home, road-weary and quiet, slipping into their chamber with the hesitance of a man who wasn't sure of his welcome.
Kageyama returns from a campaign three days late for Hinata's birthday. He has been saving some complaints, but his husband is a little too good at apologizing and giving late-birthday gifts.
