“Ah, hi. I’m,” she stopped again, seeming to gather herself before continuing, “I’m Trina’s daughter, Taylor. I believe you’re my and my brother’s uncle.”

"For our Russians. Get Taylor to give you my number and we'll see about organising ourselves a learning experience."
"For our Russians!!" Taylor yells, jumping up and punching Sid in the shoulder, getting a yelp out of Sid and a laugh out of David. "I just wanted to participate."
"I think this is gonna be the start of a beautiful friendship, eh, David?"
"I think you're right."
And as she watches them chat, Taylor knows her work here is done.

Summary
Macklin Mark Crosby is born on the 16th June 2006, to a medical student mother and a professional athlete father. The day of his birth bright with the mid-summer sun yet cool, with a strong seaside breeze flowing through the window of the labour room of the same maternity ward both of his parents were born in.
His birth would be one of the only times all 3 were ever together.

A one night stand leaves Sidney Crosby a single father in the summer after his rookie season. Sid must learn how to be a father and raise a hockey prodigy, while learning how to rely on his family, friends and teammates. In doing so, Sid forms one of the most supportive, hockey loving families for Macklin Celebrini to be raised in.

David sat by through all of this, still holding the phone as his son had folded into him, resting against him as he spoke to Taylor. He smiled down at his son, glad they were getting along so well. He knew that Taylor was kind but worried that his son's obsession and passion might put her off, but if anything, that passion just ignited a parallel passion in her.
What David didn't know is that Taylor was very used to this kind of conversation, having grown up with Sid in the offseason, coming back brimming with plans, logistics, and information and having nowhere to go with it. Taylor became his conversational partner, taking in everything he told her, and as she got older and got into hockey herself, she took everything he imparted on her and utilised it.
Listening to Shane, all Taylor could think was, 'god, him and Sidney are going to get on too well. God help us.'

"You don't think you're autistic." Flower's voice is bordering on hysterical.
"No? Why on earth did you think I am?"
"You weren't diagnosed as a kid? You didn't just choose to not talk about it cause of all the shitty opinions and chirping when we were coming up?"
"No." Sid is genuinely baffled by this conversation, but looking around the room, he sees that this misconception is not restricted to Flower, everyone in the room is seemingly in agreement.
"You're not autistic? You? You're not autistic?!" Flower hysteria is growing and Sid feels need to de-escalate before they reach the Quebecois ranting that he knows is one of Flower's next steps.

"And the worst thing is, Mack can't get away from him. Players get drafted and are able to get away from their parents and their expectations, but not Mack. Mack lives in the same city as his dad, his dad can show up whenever he wants. And even if he can't be their physically, he knows he's trained Mack so well that he'll always respond to his calls. Even when he doesn't want to, and when he really shouldn't."
"Mack's dad treats him like a player he's consulting on, one he's trying to get the very best out of, no matter what it takes. He doesn't treat him like he's his son, he's just a sports project. And in return, Mack thinks everything he is, everything he has achieved, is because of his dad, not in spite of him."

Each baby Shark gives a different answer, and clearly disagree with one another, with the four of them descending into chaos. The vets all watch on as their young core argue over which competitor of theirs was used as the basis of a character in someone's hockey porno, someone who apparently had sex with Sidney Crosby's fictional progeny.

Mack had been getting ready to wallow, to head back to Vancouver, where his family were busy and he would mostly be left to his own devices, when a shadow appeared in front of him.
Looking up, there he was. Standing tall and proud, regal and captainly, not at all like he had just had a 19 year old calling the shots over him, was Sidney Crosby.
Sid looked down at him, with those kind eyes that had looked at Mack with awe and happiness since they first played together, those eyes that could offer a shoulder without saying a single word.
And he offered him an opportunity. Mack had already had the opportunity to go to Nova Scotia and train with Sid, and Nate, but that was less important, but this offer was something different. Something more.

"Oh fuck the cup!" Sid yells, completely silencing Connor as he stared at his phone in shock, never thinking he would ever hear a player say those words. He continued before Connor could question him any further, "This isn't about the cup, this is about human fucking decency and how you apparently fucking lack it!"
