Summary
“I’m a girl.” Three words, said plainly and subdued, and yet they have her folding at the waist, stomach aching. “I’ve always—I realised. That I’m not a boy. That I’m… a girl.”
Satoru doesn’t ask her to repeat herself, to clarify. She just stares, face still as stone. Time stops its forward motion, the whole world soundless, airless. Their table in this KFC, in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is a microcosm. Nothing else exists.
Then Satoru opens her mouth and says, “And?”
(Suguru tries to break up with Satoru. It doesn't work.)

Summary
But Satoru looks anything but afraid. She looks like the cat who got the cream. She pushes up onto her knees, rounds the table like a predator, and for the first time in Suguru’s chequered history, she is worried she’ll be devoured. “Afraid of you?” Satoru drawls, her figure long and languid. She eats into Suguru’s space, forcing her backwards until she can taste Satoru’s regal scent – cloves, lavender, neroli. “Never.”
“You shouldn’t—get too close—”
“Why?” she asks. “Worried you’ll bite me?”
“Yes. Satoru—”
“What if I want you to?” Her voice has lowered into something sensational – rich and husky and rife with desire. “What if I’ve been thinking about your teeth in me since I first figured you out?”
(For Suguru, love is about restraint. Satoru shows her differently.)
