Kip took a deep breath as he stood outside the door to Scott’s penthouse. The first time he had been here, he was a bundle of nerves because what do you mean I’m going to the penthouse of a professional athlete to talk about gay stuff?, and it had been…fine. He hadn’t been secretly murdered. Or assaulted. Granted, he knew what the game plan was then: friendly. Talking. No funny business. Which was easy enough, despite Scott’s apparent penchant for tight shirts extending to his casual wardrobe.
This was a different kind of nervous.

“I’ve been umm-ing and ahh-ing over this for like a week,” Scott said, leaning over the back of the couch with a pensive look on his face, “And I can’t figure out if it’s a rude question or not.”
Kip looked up from the carrots. “Don’t tip the couch over.”
“That happened one time! Anyway, I thought I’d rather just ask, instead of trying to decide on my own,” Scott said. Kip nodded, raising an eyebrow. “How…how did it happen?” Scott asked. “Like…” he made a gesturing motion at Kip, who frowned in response. “You know.”
