'War,' Cody’s mind latched onto the word. 'Yes. The war never really ended, did it?'
There was supposed to be an after—for Cody, for someone else too, for them together. But the war had not ended. It had simply continued under another name, shrouded in the lies of peace, freedom, security, and justice, at long last, some said. The war went on. And so had he for a time… somehow.
