Shane and Ilya met in their very first foster home when they were 7. They were the only reason either of them survived.
Now, 9 years later, after they were removed from the home and separated their lives gone down different paths. The need for an emergency placement puts Ilya and the small girl who has become attached to him in Yuna and David Hollander's home one Friday night. By Saturday morning he learns Shane also lives there and has since they were split apart.
He also learns that while Shane remembers Ilya, he doesn't remember what they endured in that house.
A story about reconciling with the past. With demons. With someone who saved you once only to unravel you completely later.
Set over one weekend.

Summary
Former fosters siblings Shane and Ilya are reunited in the home Shane has been living in for 7 years while Ilya was bounced around through the system only to end up in an abusive home for six years.
Now Ilya is out of that hand living with the Hollanders in therapy and figuring out how to live with with the boy he used to know when they lived through the worst period of their lives and the (almost) man he's become in the beautiful home he now lives in. Shane wants nothing more than to be friends (ish) despite the fact that he's on his own journey, remembering what happened to them back in that first foster house.

2. They are in high school. Some conversations, some personality things are more...annoying maybe? I just think they don't have the luxury of being grown or having time in this story and so they're a little more impulsive and reckless with each other just like in the last one.
