“Red?” Chloe whispered softly, staring at her best friend with wide eyes, her heart beating erratically against her chest as she took in the redhead before her, but it was the look on her face that truly stopped Chloe dead in her tracks.
That glare…
So full of hate, of pain…of betrayal. There was also something…broken in that gaze. All directed right at HER, making Chloe’s heart snap in two…
“What?” Red smirked darkly, eyes glinting maliciously as her eyes raked over Chloe’s body. “Don’t like the new look? I thought you liked bad girls?” Red pouted, but everyone could see the dark amusement in her eyes as she stared at the group before her.
Even Max looked to his right, apprehension clouding his face as he looked at the teen beside him.
“What? Cat got your tongue? Why? You were right Chlo, I’m nothing but a villain. JUST, like my mother…”

There were very few things in the world that could rattle Bridget Hearts…
But this?
…Nothing could’ve ever prepared her for it.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean—I won’t. I’m sorry. Please, I’ll b-be better. I’ll be better.” Red whispered under her breath as she laid down on her stomach underneath the bed, hands wrapped around her head in a protective cocoon while clenching her eyes shut, as if she was actively warding off any nearby threat.
Her breath came in shallow gasps, her entire body was shaking but no tears leaked from her eyes as she continued to murmur under her breath about how sorry she was, and how she’d do better next time.
Bridget didn’t know whether to be happy about the fact her daughter seemed to be back in her own mind…or sad that THIS, was what Red returned to.
