Tony Stark was dying.
The palladium poisoning was getting worse by the day, and no amount of chlorophyll sludge, whiskey, or denial was going to fix it.
Then New York called to inform him that his biological son’s guardians had died unexpectedly, leaving Tony with temporary emergency custody of a fourteen-year-old kid who very clearly wanted nothing to do with him.
There was a reason Tony never wanted to be a father.

Summary
Tony has had custody of his son Peter for six months now. It's been going well, all things considered. Their first few months weren't great, but Tony was going to blame that on the Palladium poisoning.
Now they were living in New York, and Peter was attending the high school he'd argued so passionately for. Everything was going well.
At least, Tony thought it was. Then Parents' Night happened, and Tony discovered that being someone's father was apparently a lot more complicated than just showing up.
