Summary
There's been hints, small things that let Peter get his hopes up that he could be remembered, but he has to make sure that breaking the effects of the spell won't break the world again with it. He'd waited years just to be rejected by the girl he loved, but at least she knew his name. He can't live with the memory of being told "I don't love you" while being looked at with vacant, unrecognizing eyes again. He can't ruin this all again, so he goes to the person who cast the spell in the first place in search of some hope.

Summary
Peter realized that the man who helped save his life (after, admittedly, being the one to almost end it and Jean doing most of the work before the doctors got to him) had seen his face and yet still didn’t have a name to call him by. Maybe he was being overconfident now in who he wanted to share it with, but he trusted Frank. Sure, the killing wasn’t great and he seemed constantly tired of Peter’s shit, but they had a good thing going. Maybe Peter owed him a little most honesty… as he definitely wasn’t stalling his conversation with Ned and MJ.
(Can be read as a standalone, the only context you need is that Peter went to talk to Stephen about the details of the spell but is still wholly forgotten. Fun times!)

Summary
Peter knew that he owed Ned the truth. He knew that it wouldn't bring back the memories—in fact, it might make him lose his friend all over again, if Ned decided that the hero he looked up to was nothing more than an insane guy who'd been stalking him since high school and creating some fantasy narrative of a world where they were friends. He might as well get the truth out there and get this loss over with as well.
MJ didn't know how to feel about how it actually played out.

Stephen didn't really know how he's supposed to console someone he doesn't even remember, but he made a point to check on Peter regardless. Peter was still concerned he was doing the wrong thing by trying to get people to remember.
It goes about as well as any sleep-deprived conversation does.
