“Don’t tell Pike I said this, but maybe he is not so boring after all,” he said, putting his hand on Jackie’s knee again. “I can be your hall pass, I don’t blame you. I am a much more handsome and better hockey player than your husband.”
She laughed, but still felt a bubbling nervousness in her throat as he spoke. “But tell me one thing,” he said, leaning in close. “Is my Shane his hall pass?”
She bit down on her lip hard, almost willing the words to stay in her mouth. She didn’t want her husband to die tonight.
“Please don’t kill him,” she said instead of answering. To her surprise, Ilya laughed.
“I am not going to kill him,” he said. “Maybe I should, but this is actually not a problem. In fact, this is opposite of problem.”

"I wanted to talk about us having sex again," she said much more casually than she felt. She must have caught Shane mid-sip because he coughed, hand flying to his chest as he choked on the coffee stuck in his throat. Ilya was laughing, patting Shane on the back to help him.
“Oh, Jackie, you do not hold back, huh?” Ilya was back to rubbing Shane’s back now that he caught his breath. Jackie shifted in her seat, trying to keep her own laughter down.
“Yeah, sorry about that,” she grabbed her own mug, tucking her legs close. “There’s no easy way to start that conversation.”
Ilya nodded, leaning back against the couch. “No, is very easy. You did a good job,” He paused, glancing at Shane to gauge his reaction. “You and Hayden talked about doing it again?”
Jackie nodded. “Yeah, we uh,” she cleared her throat, eyes trained on the floor. “The last time definitely spiced things up for us and we talked about how maybe we can do some… more things the next time around.”
