“Ah. I see,” Purple said, shrugging. “Well, if that’s all, I suppose I’ll leave you to your important kingly duties.”
She was about to step out, picking up her silky skirts around her, when Green let out a frustrated huff.
“You make it look so easy,” he sighed.
Purple halted and turned back. “Hmm?”
“Being a mother. Being a parent in general.” Green sighed. “It just comes so naturally to you. Perhaps it’s because you grew up with parents… I didn’t. I hardly remember my parents. You… you make it look so simple. I don’t think I can be a good father. I’m so busy with other things and…” He stopped there when he saw Purple kneel on the rug next to him.
“Go on,” she said.
