Summary
Nurmengard.
The fortress was not a welcoming place. Its corridors were vast and dim, its walls scarred by decades of confinement and old magic. There were rooms Harry was not permitted to enter and wards he was not yet strong enough to understand.
But it was quiet.
It was home.

Summary
The nine visitors turned towards him.
For an instant, the great hall was completely silent.
Harry had seen Gellert confront Ministry officials, hostile Aurors and foreign dignitaries without the slightest hesitation. He had never seen him look quite so uncertain.
Gellert straightened.
“Welcome to Nurmengard.”

Summary
The headline appeared on a Thursday morning in late September.
It was printed in letters so enormous that even the owls seemed reluctant to deliver the paper.
By breakfast, every copy of the Daily Prophet had been snatched from an owl’s beak, unfolded beside a plate of toast, and passed from hand to hand.

Summary
He liked the way the castle had changed since Harry and Newt came into his life.
It was not a dramatic change. Nurmengard did not suddenly become warm, and the mountain did not sprout flowers. The castle remained black stone, silver frost and narrow windows. But with them here? This place seemed much more... Alive. Brighter. Cozier.

Summary
Dumbledore had planned the next few years down to the smallest detail.
It was always like that with him: Plan ahead, and if the world refused to follow the plan, make another. He had planned where Harry would live, who would keep an eye on him, how long the boy might have to wait before he could choose his own life.

Summary
The whole dragel circle had that particular stillness of people who loved someone fiercely and were trying not to scare him by showing it too plainly.
“Just the usual examination,” Quinn said gently. “No surprises unless your body insists on being rude.”
Harry huffed a laugh, small and doubtful. “That sounds ominous.”
“It’s meant to sound accurate.”
