Works may reference characters and plotlines from other works, but are primarily stand-alone. Think of them each like alternate universes within alternate universes.
For example, in "Last Time (I Seen The Sun)", Jason Todd is a vampire, and moved down to Mumford with Dick, Alfred, and Bruce a month prior. Jonathan Crane is mentioned as a priest in Mumford with experience in vampires, and interacts directly with the cast.
However, in "When Doves Cry", Jonathan Crane makes no mention of vampires, even though he was a vampire specialist in a different work. Jason Todd exists, but he is not a vampire.
Or, in "Silver Springs", when Selina Kyle has a bitter relationship with Bruce Wayne, who has been in Mumford most of his life, though Bruce in LTISTS never had a relationship with Selina.
They all occur in Mumford, but the circumstances and character plots change depend on the fic. Consistency is not guaranteed.
