Summary
Morty understands he’s replaceable. Rick has made that very clear.
What Morty doesn’t understand is why Rick keeps acting like he isn’t.
Because Rick never says he cares. He doesn’t hug him, reassure him, or tell him he’s important. But the moment Morty is hurt, trapped, or about to die, Rick doesn’t necessarily act like someone that could give less of a shit.
Morty begins to wonder if maybe danger is the only time Rick actually cares about his existence.
Then, after one argument too many, Morty decides to find out just how far that theory goes.
