Summary
The condom is nothing more than a scrap when Ilya finally tugs it off of himself on shaky legs beside Hollander’s trash can. He wiggles it with his hand. “Maybe you keep as a souvenir?”
Hollander spits toothpaste foam into the sink and then flips him off over his shoulder.
“I’ve already won a souvenir for something I couldn’t feel my legs after, and it was the fucking Cup.” He drops his toothbrush into its holder. “Stop playing with that and throw it away. It’s disgusting.”

Summary
A long time ago, they’d had hardwood in the bedrooms, and Shane had a large blue rug in the middle of the room half-tucked under his bed. The first time he’d come back to visit after moving out, they’d replaced it with carpet instead, some version of a shag that his mother had liked at the hardware store and devoted a summer to accomplishing so that she wouldn’t spend it instead worrying about Shane.
These are the sorts of things he wants to tell Ilya, these days.
He looks down at his socked feet, the carpet underneath his toes. Then he drops to his knees.
