   Summary

   A long time ago, they’d had hardwood in the bedrooms, and Shane had a large blue rug in the middle of the room half-tucked under his bed. The first time he’d come back to visit after moving out, they’d replaced it with carpet instead, some version of a shag that his mother had liked at the hardware store and devoted a summer to accomplishing so that she wouldn’t spend it instead worrying about Shane.
