Summary
“Can you just talk?”
Ilya held the phone tighter. “What?”
“Please.”
He felt his hands go cold. “What happened?”
“Just– talk. Please.”
Ilya shoved the blanket away from his legs. “About what?”
“I don't care.”
The answer made something cold move through him.
After Sochi, Ilya gets exactly what he wanted: Shane Hollander finally stops trying. So when, four weeks later, Hollander calls him at three in the morning - Ilya is fucking confused. And then he's fucking terrified.
Over the next eighteen months, they keep talking - about hockey, mostly. Until somehow it becomes everything else.
