Athos never wanted d'Artagnan to be in this situation. He never wanted to be holding the boy in his arms, his hands covered by the blood of the young would-be musketeer from trying to treat his wound as best he could in the cold cell they'd been left in, praying that he wouldn't fade away before they were rescued.

Anyway, follows on from the previous fic, everyone's celebrated d'Artagnan getting back on his feet and he loses his brain to mouth filter when he's drunk so insecurities about whether Athos really loves him come to the surface. It's completely adorable I assure you.

He did not want the questions or the pity that the boy's eyes so often held, he did not want that, not after seeing his wife again - kissing her, by God, what had he been thinking? But d'Artagnan said nothing as he set down two bottles of wine on the table, one for Athos, and one for himself.
d'Artagnan is in a less than celebratory mood and his friends try to fix that by reminding him that he's family now.
