“I don’t rightly know. It’s just...when I’m with you, there’s something I’ve never felt before. It’s...difficult to explain. Like I’m feeling the sun on my face for the first time… It’s as though I’ve been living in the Underdark for my entire life, and then…” The words washed away in the rising tide of Vax’s emotions.

These days, Keyleth has so much to worry about she barely feels the little bits of magic that seep out. She knows that sometimes it happens; her canines extending when she gets particularly mad, fire licking at her fingers with anxiety. Sadness brings her druidcraft to the thin blood under her skin, seeping green and petals into the world in lieu of offering it anything else. Particular flowers for particular feelings. As she walks, she leaves blooms in her wake; there’s a reason Percy and Vex call it the Snowdrop Memorial Trail.

He’d probably admire it more if he wasn’t trapped in it, those runes suppressing his magic, and he was wearing the clothing he went to sleep in.

“What it is.” The part-snapping, part-clicking sound of Percy reloading Bad News echoes around the forest. “Genocide.”
“Ah, yes, because that’s so much more comforting,” Vax’ildan comments dryly.
