Summary
In another universe away from trials and tribulations of the Amphorean cycle, the Chrysos Heirs each take on roles in a high school’s student council, meeting each other in various unique circumstances. However, the student council is separated into two opposing factions, Caenis and Cerydra respectively.
While attempting to thwart and expose Caenis’ problematic actions, Cerydra carefully avoids being thrown into scandals with the aid of the vice-presidents, Hysilens and Aglaea. Unfortunately, Caenis plans to stir up trouble and attempts to sabotage the other facion, while Lygus, the school principal, is plotting to put an end to the school council. In the midst of the worsening situation and unfolding tensions, Mydeimos, a chaebol, joins the school and successfully applies for the council. His relationship with Phainon, a village boy, gradually blossoms, changing his skewed perception of the happy-go-lucky boy, while dealing with his responsibilities as the heir of a falling corporation.

She watched the woman’s throat bob, seeing the clear don’t make this harder in Cifera’s eyes. Still, she persisted for some ungodly reason. She spoke as steely as she could, managing to meet her gaze without flinching. “Can I not be proud of my partner?”
Cifera took in her display, a pantomime of a put-together woman she was certainly not, and just laughed.

Aglaea is troubled by the increasing weight of her responsibilities as Cerydra’s chosen heir, but is determined not to be the type of person who brings their work problems home. Because of that, she has become distant, cold, trying to keep a neutral, professional front even when she isn't at work. Cipher teaches her that there is a difference between taking your frustrations out on your loved one, and trusting them enough to be honest about what troubles you.
[“Talking about your problems doesn’t equate to lashing out blindly,” she points out, her voice surprisingly stable despite the tears. “You can just go ‘the Council is really bothering me, their speeches are seven parts pomp and pageantry and one part subject’, and I’ll offer to take a couple of them out in their sleep, and you’ll try to get mad at me but you’ll laugh anyway.”
Aglaea smiles. She feels a little closer now, her eyes a little less shadowed. Cipher grabs onto her arms, as if trying to hold her soul in place, to prevent her from drifting away again.

Cipher could be after the warmth of the sheets or simply enjoy batting at her like a ball of yarn before prancing off to the next interesting thing. Both had happened before. But as Aglaea cleaned the last smattering of gold and rubbed the last bit of cream to the heavier bruises—always still gentle with him despite her anger, she decided something. Aglaea might not be able to stop Cipher from getting what she wants, but Aglaea can ensure she at least enjoys herself along the way.
“All done, Lady Goldweaver?” Cipher asked with slanted brows beneath her bangs, tail bandying about.
“Not quite.” Aglaea met his mien with not quite scorn, but a sternness that mirrored the strength of her next words, “Sit.”

Cipher stumbles oh so self impressed into Aglaea's home, cloaked in injury and snark. Aglaea takes care of her, because what else would she do with a wounded beloved. And like it or not, they fall back into old methods and old affections. Older, perhaps, than they ever thought they would see again.
