He was met with silence.
Well, Bdubs wasn’t one to be deterred. Chalking the lack of response up to confusion, he continued, “Don’t worry, I know it’s a lot. But I’ve been there! I’ll help you; we can work through all these new challenges together. Guess this really is gonna explain some of those code quirks of yours, huh?”
Etho still didn’t respond, so Bdubs stopped, struck with the realization that his babbling likely wasn’t helping.
The silence sat between them for nearly a minute, before Etho’s cracking voice, properly distraught, rasped out, “This is permanent?”

Etho feels soft hands rest on his face, those same mossy hands he craves so bad. He inhales sharply, resting his forehead against his husbands. Bdubs hums, trailing his hands down Etho’s arms, feeling where his hands meet. He smiles, closing his eyes. He rubs his thumbs against Ethos rough knuckles, guiding them up to his face, pressing soft kisses against them both, one at a time.
He feels like he can breathe better now. He doesn’t know why it was so hard to before-
