Daisy grinned down at her phone as she read all the kind messages on the group chat. A-Troupe really was a family sometimes, and it was moments like these that that showed.
They had a long weekend rehearsal today, that Daisy wouldn't want to get out of for the world. She loved being in the studio, and honestly she couldn't think of anything better to spend her birthday doing than dancing with her favourite people.

Realising her feelings had been an electrifying, exciting, euphoric experience. Suddenly, looking at his face, into his eyes, meant something more than just looking at a friend. For just that moment in their duet, when they'd adopted that slow dancing pose, his hands on her hips as they'd looked into each other's eyes, she'd allowed herself to believe that maybe he liked her too. That maybe they could actually be together.
Then they'd found out Pascale would be at the Brawl, and Daisy had watched Heath's face change when realising that.
It was then that she'd realised it was foolish to think he liked her back. He'd always just think of her as his duet partner, and to be honest, she was lucky to get even that.

And after that day, it was as if nothing could come between them. They weren't always joined at the hip, of course, and they allowed each other space, but the chemistry was always there, and it was always undeniable. They could be talking across the studio, involved in different things, and something would always connect them to each other.

Eldon and Michelle had announced the duet competition a few weeks ago. It was in a few weeks and the auditions had been yesterday.
There had been some worthy competitors. Ethan and Niall's duet had been amazing, and Ariana and Jett had come up with some killer choreo to try and win. But in the end, the choice was clear.
And that was why Heath and Daisy were in the studio this late at night, dancing together in the dimly lit room, smiles illuminating both their faces.

The fact that Daisy could feel her cheeks heating up at just the thought of him was testament to just how happy she felt with that boy. They'd been enemies, at first. Then duet partners, and then friends. When she'd left the studio, she had ghosted him, but it was more out of fear than anything else. Fear that he now thought he was too good for her. Fear that he had moved on.
