A moment’s hesitation, then she accepted. His touch was warm. His skin more worn, more lived-in, than what she’d expected from a study-bound wizard. She wondered, dimly, what he felt in her hand. If the illusion would hold true under such direct connection, and what would happen if he realized who she truly was. But then his hand was gone and her wondering went with it. It didn’t matter. They wouldn’t be together long.
