Summary
Tonik d'Cannith is a man haunted by the sins of his family. After narrowly escaping the clutches of Karrnathi soldiers and losing his arm to his own House's weapons, Tonik vowed to right the many wrongs of House Cannith.
But Tonik's journey takes a dark turn when he finds himself trapped in the Mists of the Mournland, his body transformed into a living nightmare by the very armor he created to save his life. He awakens in Dread Metrol, the capital city of Cyre, which has been enduring an endless siege by the undead legions of Karrnath. Every night, new forces emerge from the Mists, and within the city, Queen Dannel ir’Wynarn and Starrin "the Gorgon" d'Cannith, the baron of House Cannith, both seek to turn the tide of battle in their favor.
The Gorgon rebuilt Tonik, bringing him back from death... and made him into something inhuman. Missing his dragonmark and trapped in a city surrounded by the banners of his captors, Tonik is pushed to his limits. Will he succumb to the machines of war, or will he rise above the sins of his forefathers and Make things right? As Tonik battles to reclaim his humanity and fight for what is right, he discovers that the line between hero and monster is a thin one indeed.
