Summary
It was not only a formality, but a duty to be upheld. If his brother hadn't insisted that Raziel come, he would still be at Raya Lucaria engrossed over his blueprints with Sellen gently chiding him over his shoulder about his health and other mundane things. It had been a year since he had last taken up the Marais mantle, a year since he had first tasted what it was like to be truly his own person. His mask had laid hidden but not forgotten within a box beneath his bed. He wished he could forget it all.
Raziel Marais and his brother Maleigh Marais are called to the Capital to give aid to Lord Messmer in the Land of Shadow where Queen Marika first set foot. There is war to the North in the Lands Between and there is war South still. This third, hidden war is a dark, bloody battle that is unsung and hidden away from the light. It is only natural that those who carry out the darkest and most reviled tasks would be sent to aid the most abhorrent of crusades.
