But now that Inuyasha is here, she has no choice. She can’t appear to back down, can’t keep avoiding him. So he doesn’t feel that way about her—so what. She won’t be cowed. She tugs at the hem of her pajama t-shirt and flings it off without another thought, tugging next at the drawstrings of her shorts and stepping out of them next.
Inuyasha makes a sound like a cough from the shadowy part of the pool where he’s lurking.
(Kagome sneaks over to her neighbors' pool in the middle of the night. Turns out her teenage-nemesis-turned-neighbor-turned-friend-turned-coworker--the very person she's been avoiding having serious conversations with--is already there.)

Inuyasha shifted gently, opening his mouth to tell Kagome they should get going, but she had fallen asleep. Her eyes were fluttered shut, and she made no movement as he swept her hair across her brow. He could hear her heartbeat and the soft cycle of breathing, in and out. The blood-red apple laid listless in her hand. With how pale her skin had gotten in the cold, she resembled a body awaiting embalming.
He draped his suikan over her and kissed her forehead. It could be his last, but strangely enough, there was no fear in the thought.

Four and a half hour train ride? Exchange student? Eri gave Inuyasha a furtive glance. He hadn’t taken a single drink from his cup, and she noticed how long his nails were as they tapped restlessly on the ceramic rim. Sounds like a cover to me.
In truth, while the other girls had mostly discarded of their previous yakuza notions, Eri still clung to them. There were too many items of contention that continued to make themselves known. She didn’t know a single school that would let him get away with that hair color and length (he’d claimed it was natural, but how could that be?) - nor those bright contacts, for that matter - unless there was an external factor at play.
or: according to one eri, kagome's scoundrel boyfriend is absolutely, completely, totally a member of the yakuza - until he isn't, and someone else is.
