“Hi,” Harry says nervously, chuckling. Louis doesn’t laugh though.
“To boyfriends everywhere. “ Louis announces. “Fuck.You” Louis says spitting the words out.
And then the line is dead. Fuck. Shit. Harry blinks down at his phone, puzzled for a moment until he dials Louis’ number again. It once again takes a full minute for Louis to answer. But when he does, Harry wastes no time.
“So you were watching then” Harry says immediately, brushing a nervous hand through his hair.
“Yeah” Louis says, his voice clipped. “I was watching from the sofa in the basement. I can tell you it’s not the most comfortable sofa, but I’m sure your back will get used to it” He informs and wait wha-
“Since that’s where you will be sleeping” Louis spits then.

Suddenly, an angel falls from the sky. Or a person jumps down from the treetops, Harry isn’t really sure. Either way, the beautiful stranger lands in a crouch just feet from Harry’s head, a bow in his hands and an arrow pulled back ready to fire. He releases the string, the arrow plunging into the spaces between trees, and something howls in the darkness.
The angel-person looks over at Harry. “You okay?”
Harry blinks. Is he okay? He doesn’t feel, like, safe – or sane – but all his limbs are still attached, which he thinks is the question? So he nods, still too winded to speak.
“Good,” the angel-person says. A wide grin spreads across his golden face as he nocks another arrow. “Time to fuck up a hellhound. This’ll be fun.”

And this must be some kind of elaborate joke. But even though the voice is just as flat as ever a part of Harry realises that this person actually means it. Whether it’s true or not, they believe that they are being honest with Harry. And that is just mind-boggling.
“How do I know you are not just dragging me off somewhere to kill me? I’d imagine you wouldn’t want to get any blood on these walls. Must be hell to clean.”
For a moment the stranger looks around the room, almost as if they see it for the first time.
“I suppose it must be. Yet I have never attempted that task so I cannot know for sure.” They focus back on Harry. “It is a useless contemplation, anyway. Blood cannot be spilled in No Where and even if that notion would come to me I would be unable to kill you.”
Harry just stares for a second because this conversation is giving him whiplash.
“Yeah? And why is that?”
“Because you already are dead, of course.”***
Harry dies and has to face the bitter truth of what his life has become. When all is said and done, will he choose to stay dead, or is he ready to return to life and right his mistakes?

“Come eat, sweetheart,” Harry instructs as he plates the hashbrowns and two servings of eggs before drizzling hot sauce over both dishes. More hot sauce for Louis than him, but he’s been trying to work his way up to a higher tolerance so they can go to this new Mexican restaurant that Louis has been raving about. He pulls a chair out for the other boy, but Louis simply pouts.
“I want to sit with you,” he requests innocently, and Harry’s heart swells at the blatant affection.
Swooping Louis back into his lap, they sit down at the table to eat. “You’re needy today, aren’t you baby love?” Harry noses at the back of his neck, taking in the warm scent. Louis quickly tilts his head back to press a quick kiss on Harry, winding his arm back around his neck.
“Your breath smells like eggs,” is all the other boy offers up.

“It’s with him.”
Louis froze, risking a glance back at the person in charge of interviews, show appearances and general publicity. “Him who?” He didn’t hear him correctly. After all, it was both too late and too soon for them to speak to each other. He must have just imagined the way his companion put an emphasis on the pronoun.
Niall didn’t answer his question directly, instead opting for a, “You have to talk eventually, mate. Don’t you reckon you might as well rip the bandaid right off ya?”
There was a very pregnant pause where the security guard took the opportunity to get back in the driver’s seat at the signal of Niall’s head tilt, blue gaze trained on that of his longtime friend and teammate.
“I’m not talking to him.” Louis deadpanned, the quick change of tone too evident to ignore. Just because he wanted to defend him didn’t mean he wanted to speak to him.

The last time they saw one another was the worst heartache they'd both experienced.
One was convinced he moved on and the other just couldn't let it go.
