Summary
It is the year 2070. Within the existing global capitalist system, different parts of the world are experiencing the dangerous effects of climate change. Major flooding, extreme drought, dangerous windstorms, long winters, and excruciating summers. Those who have the least, suffer the most. While the world is on fire and freezing to death at once; humans have taken their exploitative tendencies to a higher level. Concealing their true greed with useless philanthropic promises, they continue to exploit the environment and its animals.
This story follows the life of the last four Bornean orangutans located in the tropical forests of Borneo. Hawa, her son Adam, the elder Yusef, and his niece Nuria. It follows the tumultuous circumstances in which these arboreal creatures find themselves. Plagued by existential questions they do not have answers for, each ape finds their philosophy and way of life within the shrinking confines of the forest.
