Karen was sleeping soundly in the bed next to him and Matt breathed in deeply, feeling an extraordinary sense of happiness wash over him. Last night he'd asked her to marry him, and she'd said yes.
He hadn't planned it. Didn't have a ring. They'd never even discussed whether or not they wanted to get married, but they loved each other, and each knew better than most just how easy it was to waste what little time they'd been given.
