Summary
“Confess your sins, my child” Speaks the Priest. I exhale and begin, going down the usual list of sins I’ve committed. Stealing, Greed and other simple things like that smoothly come out of my mouth, voice never wavering. I’m used to this now, but I always fear that in the spur of the moment I’ll let it slip. The guilt overtakes me sometimes, late in the night. It drives me up the wall, nearly as much as he does.

This neverending cycle of gravitation and overcorrection—it was something that no one deserved to endure at his hands, surely. Whatever twists of fate the future might hold, and whatever actions Reynauld might someday feel compelled to take in the name of safeguarding his eternal salvation, he thanked the Light daily that Dismas hadn’t already left him for dead in one of these dungeons just to be through with it all.
It would be a fitting punishment, Reynauld figured; lenient, even. For all that he’d done, all that he wanted, all that he was.

Dismas has a pannic attack (I think this was more than just a panic attack) and for the love of god he just cannot accept comfort. Mostly angst with a lot of self hatred and suicidal thoughts. TLDR sad man makes stupid decisions.

“Aren’t you cold?” Reynauld spoke up.
Dismas looked at the man now standing beside him. He looked into those eyes, just like the ocean, huh… Something buried deep, hidden behind foggy memories, longed and feared the presence of the other man. But why? Why should he like or dislike him? No matter how much he tried to reach that feeling he couldn’t, so he just exhaled the smoke to the side.
“Isn’t that the whole point of winter, eh?” A familiar, faded red, neckerchief caught his eyes on the crusader's neck as he tried to look away. ‘So there you are…’

Summary
It had all happened so fast.
Reynauld had been fighting his way to the front, letting his holy lance clear the way. He was just about to pass Dismas when it happened. A spear, punched straight through the Highwayman’s chest. Everything else fell away. All he could see was Dismas falling, blood spraying in a perfect arc as he went down.
