Scruff had offered to search himself, but Snowbelle had insisted she go - insisting her husband stay behind just in case Noel happened to wander his way. He tried to argue, but Snowbelle reassured him that she would be okay. She’s survived this long with only two limbs, why would anything be different now? So, reluctantly, Scruff let her go search, but made her promise to radio him if anything were to happen.
