He wishes he could enjoy the experience of dreams, but it’s all out of reach to him. Lucid dreaming doesn’t work; he lacks the precise control over his own unruly mind. He can’t even enjoy daydreams. Every aspirational idea just makes him sad. Surely the rest of the crew fantasizes about returning to Earth, but what’s left for him there? Grief, despair, a ruined career? Worst of all, irrelevance. He’d never be able to bear it.What would I change, if I could?
